Obama's Naivety Injures the US

Charles Krauthammer is unapologetically conservative, no doubt. What is also true is that he is often correct. Iran is brazen in its march towards atomic weapons and this administration has demonstrated such weakness on the world stage that no one fears the consequences of supporting Iran. You can read Mr. Krauthammer's analysis here:

All the best,

Krauthammer - ever the partisan - is way over the top in this piece.-He incorrectly asserts that Turkey and Brazil are acting rationally. Unless you are a fundamentalist mullah, there is nothing rational about fostering Iran's nuclear ambitions. I genuinely believe there are "Fall of Rome" implications if Iran joins the nuclear club. It will only be a matter of time until Hezbollah or Hamas delivers the bomb to the Port of NY without an obvious return address.

Of course, President Bush takes a great deal of blame here. His petulant, unilateralist policies encouraged Teheran and Pyongyang to speed up their nuclear programs. The world was not with us. Our difficulties in Iraq emboldened the rogue state hard liners. We lost eight critical years.

Obama now has the ball. He has been working 24/7 to bring the rest of the world along. He has made progress, but success has been elusive these sixteen short months. This issue - along with North Korea - trumps all others. Frankly, he needs to be prepared to rain conventional missiles down upon one of these two rogue states (in such event, the other will quickly come to heel). He needs to privately make it clear to the Russians and the Chinese that he will be doing just that if need be, such that they can intercede and make such action unnecessary.

The stakes are that high.
