Political Wisdom ??????-

I have always been told the Democrats favor Unions and trial lawyers, and the Republicans favor Energy companies, and Big Business.
Well in reading " Overhaul" by Steven Rattner the inside story of the Auto Industry. Mr. Rattner appointed by Obama to straighten out the the auto industry there is some interesting quotes and decisions that were made.
1 At one point Rahm Emanuel the Presidents chief of staff exclaims F-- the UAW.
2 Although union leaders wanted a direct cash payment they were forced to take stock in the companies they had helped sink.
Does not sound to me like the Democrats cow towed to the unions.
Mr. Rattner says the bailout remains unpopular and believes the 82 million will be re payed to the government but we avoided a a " major economic calamity in the industrial midwest and kept the national economy from spiraling from deep depression to outright depression"

Velma Hart and Me

" Houston " Obama has a problem.
Velma Hart yesterday confonted Obama and told him "I thought that I voted for CHANGE and can’t understand why she doesn’t feel uplifted by him, transported to a better plane: "I've been told that I voted for a man who said he's going to change things in a meaningful way for the middle class. I'm one of those people, and I'm waiting, sir. I’m waiting. I don’t feel it yet."

Hart ends with a trembling question to the president. Referring to her straitened circumstances—she is pondering the prospect of “franks and beans” as a belt-tightening household repast—she asks: “Is this my new reality?” This question reflects the universal fear and frustration over the economy, something that crosses party lines.
This woman “believes” in Obama, so she's not QUITE one of the opposition, but she's hurting economically and that is causing her to lose hope. Hart’s question is one that most of Obama’s voters would like to ask him ( me included). Once you get past the very vocal part of the left that will support Obama just because he's Obama, many Democrats are thinking exactly as Hart is.

Obama, in his response, said that "times are tough for everybody"—which makes me wonder whether he really got the point of Hart’s question. Times are not "tough for everybody": The poor are as poor as they ever were. The rich are as rich if not richer. But it's toughest on people who got a glimpse of a better life ahead and now think it's slipping away.
Velma speaks for me and I think many who voted for Obama, we knew he was inexperienced but I thought he could work in Washington with the Republican Party
( no Red States and Blue States, just the American States)
Politics has become angry and no compromise and I am not blaming the Republican's here, but the buck stops at Obama's desk, he needs to "GIT IT DONE".
I believe in the long run the health care bill will be good could have been much better, but wasting all that bully pulpit time on something that the American people truly do not see a large benifit from was a waste of effort which should have been spent on getting the economy moving by really getting infrastructure projects started which help the economy in so many ways.
Take Chicago alone when I was in High School the Kennedy and the Eisenhower expressways were three lanes they still are today. More lanes means quicker access to the city, people having more time at home, pursuing activities, people buying apartments in the city, and a whole host of economic activity, it just makes sense. I for one question my vote, but then my vote was an anti war vote and I felt McCain would keep pursuing war policy's, and then of course Palin would be too close to the Presidency.

Detroit is Dying - What to Do?

A piece appeared in today's Detroit News that I think accurately describes the bleak situation:

http://www.detnews.com/article/20100919/OPINION03/9190309/1008/opinion01/The-three-I-s-of-Detroit-s-decline

I think devolution of power in a modified Buckley-for-NYC-Mayor approach may help rescue this city of 900,000. The issue, while local, may be a blueprint for many of the country's worst urban areas:

1> Remove Detroit from Wayne County and make it the County of Detroit, handing country responsibilities to a new government structure within current City of Detroit boundaries.

2> Carve up Detroit into 30 +/- new towns of 30,000 pop +/- and 5 square miles +/- each. New city limits should be determined logically, maintaining cohesiveness of existing neighborhoods and/or groups of 'hoods.

3> Give schools, police & fire stations to new towns. Start over. Let new elected leaders determine best approach to manage services at this very local level. Existing corruption should effectively be uprooted, new corruption much less likely and far smaller in scale.

4> Get rid of city income tax, which discourages anyone with a good job to live outside of the city. New towns will get funding just as all of the other municipalities do in the state - through property taxes and a cut of sales taxes.

Radical, yes. Anyone have any better ideas?

God Bless the Mayor

Fiscal Responsibility?

The latest Tea Party darling owed back taxes, hasn't held a job in three years, lost her home through foreclosure and was 20 years late paying her tuition. She was heartily backed by Palin and the Tea Party Express and this movement is about fiscal responsibility?

The TEA party and the lies

Often opined by me, the Liberals (Socialists) need to lie about Conservatives, the Conservatives need no such adjustment.

Taxed Enough Already.  Not much there about racism, in fact the movement is based on fiscal responsibility.  This pledge of responsibility seems to strike fear in the Progressives (Socialists) to such an extent that they must exagerate (lie) about "racism" in the TEA party movement.

Now the movement is winning big, the big deal in voters minds, now, right now, focused like a laser, is fiscal responsibility, less spending, less government, less taxes, pretty much what has been found to be what is truly important after we have suffered Obama's recession and many have been afflicted with Obamaitis.  We can agrue all we wish about abortion and stem cell research but what really matters, right now, with this crazy administration, is its spending us into oblivion.

The Socialists?  They continue to have their heads in the sand.  The debt?  The bond Ghouls.  Taxes?  The rich won't mind.  Unemployment?  The new normal.  Entitlement reform?  Let's get some votes!

If, and yes it is a big if, the TEA party candidates sweep, wow...and the thing is that the "O" does not appear to be a triangulator, I think he sticks to his guns as the boat sinks.

Much to observe going forward.

Interesting Read

After Nov elections, before sane legislators are sworn in in January
2011-they will cram Cap & Trade down our throats

OBAMA’S COLLEGE ROOMMATE SPEAKS OUT
> By Wayne Allyn Root, June 6th, 2010
>
>
> Barack Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent. To the contrary, he is
> brilliant. He knows exactly what he's doing. He is purposely overwhelming
> the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social
> chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.
> Barack Obama is my college classmate ( Columbia University , class of
> '83). As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following
> the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University .
> They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system
> with government spending and entitlement demands.
>
> Add up the clues below. Taken individually they're alarming. Taken as a
> whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United
> States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that
> desperately needs government for survival ... and can be counted on to
> always vote for bigger government. Why not? They have no responsibility to
> pay for it.
> -- Universal health care. The health care bill had very little to do with
> health care. It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital
> and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents
> (who will join government employee unions). Obama doesn't care that giving
> free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions to the
> national debt. What he does care about is that it cements the dependence
> of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government. Who but a
> socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the
> middle of a depression?
> -- Cap and trade. Like health care legislation having nothing to do with
> health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has
> everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the
> economy and a criminal payoff to Obama's biggest contributors. Those
> powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC,
> MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants.
> They will kick-back hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to
> Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that
> all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and
> businesses helps Obama "spread the wealth around."
> -- Make Puerto Rico a state. Why? Who's asking for a 51st state? Who's
> asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement
> addicts in the middle of a depression? Certainly not American taxpayers.
> But this has been Obama's plan all along. His goal is to add two new
> Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal
> Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.
> -- Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million
> potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system
> and bankrupt America . But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat
> voters who can be counted on to support big government. Add another few
> trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free
> medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social
> Security.
> -- Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat
> contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions -- including billions of
> dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country.
> It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying
> union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out
> (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A staggering $125
> billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). All those
> public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated
> salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America . The country goes
> broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat
> Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the
> means.
> -- Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job
> creators. Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers,
> redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing
> to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut
> taxes in order to starve the government. Obama wants to dramatically raise
> taxes to starve his political opposition.
> With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast and
> rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a
> vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and
> a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves
> as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.
> Add it up and you've got the perfect Marxist scheme -- all devised by my
> Columbia University college classmate Barack Obama using the Cloward
> and Piven Plan.

THE FRAMERS

The framers of the Constitution developed checks and balances to assure one branch didn't accumulate too much power.
But they never contemplated that one party could shut down the entire governmental system if it didn't get what it wanted.

The Deficit is Coming Down

It was little noticed yesterday, but the Treasury Department reported a fiscal deficit of $1.26T through August, which suggests that Obama's first budget will be $100B (8%) less than Bushes final budget deficit. Hopefully, voters will remember that the GOP President and Congress inherited a record surplus which they turned into a deficit one year. Conversely, Obama and the Democratic Congress inherited a record deficit and have begun to pare it down despite being handed the worst economy in seventy years.

Facts is facts and they are a damnable thing for the Republicans.

small little problem

It is my understanding that our great country has a total debt of around 100 trillion, this would include pensions, SS, Medicare, Medicade and other obligations...well the entire world money, meaning take every dime of the entire world which is about 60 trillion and there is not enough money on a global basis to pay off what we owe. now that is or should be scary

Newt Ginrich "Kenyan anti-colonial" statement

Obama's father was a foreign student who divorced his mother when Obama was 3. They had been separated before then. Obama saw his father once in 1971 when he was 10. When and where exactly did Obama get his "Kenyan anti-colonial view'? This makes no sense on its face, yet no doubt the ignorant Tea Partiers and birthers will be holding up signs at their next rally promoting this absolutely stupid theory.

By Ginrich's theory, anyone who has a parent from a foreign country (which millions of Americans do) believes whatever political philosophy was popular at the time they were born. Nonsense.

Ginrich is a Neo-Nazi white supremacist. This is someone the GOP wants for president? By the way I think George Washington was Anti-Colonial.

THE REAL JOE "YOU LIE" WILSON

Joe Wilson the famous " You Lie" man shocked our nation by breaking decades of decorum and yelling at the commander-in-chief during a joint session of Congress. First he refused to apologize publicly, and then he began raising money off of his embarrassing behavior.

In the year since, not much from Joe has changed. From his childish outburst to inserting lobbyists' words in the Congressional Record as his own, to an ethics investigation over more than $100,000 and 30 taxpayer-funded trips, Joe Wilson represents everything that is wrong with Washington today.

If you ask Joe, none of this is his fault.

He doesn't think that his shouting at the president was wrong; he prides himself on it. Joe doesn't see the problem with lobbyists ghostwriting for him.

And Joe doesn't think that his ethics investigation is about being responsible with your money; he thinks that a nonpartisan commission co-chaired by George W. Bush's choice to head the CIA is on a political witch hunt.

Earning a congressional reprimand, getting in bed with lobbyists, and coming under investigation has left Joe without a leg to stand on. He's the poster boy for Washington insiders and a broken Congress.

Wilson can start by having the courage to do what's right and come clean about how much per diem money he's pocketed. Every tax dollar is precious, and Wilson should return every penny that he stole from us. But, Joe has never had the courage to do what is right. Just another hypocrite from the right. Since Joe joined Congress in 2001 he has cost taxpayers about $100,000.00 including $38,000.00 in stolen per diem money for lodging and meals not counting taxpayer funds to cover US Airforce planes to transport him around to buy trinkets. 30 trips in 8 years Joe who lied now?

Boy here is a surprise

I am sure baxter knows better than these stats

A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very
interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations
International Health Organization.

Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years
after diagnosis:

U.S. 65%

England 46%

Canada 42%

Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received
treatment within six months:

U.S. 93%

England 15%

Canada 43%

Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it
within six months:

U.S.. 90%

England 15%

Canada 43%

Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within
one month:

U.S. 77%

England 40%

Canada 43%

Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million people:

U.S. 71

England 14

Canada 18

Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are in
"excellent health":

U.S. 12%

England 2%

Canada 6%

I don't know about you, but I don't want "Universal Healthcare"
comparable to England or Canada .

Moreover, it was Sen. Harry Reid who said, "Elderly Americans
must learn to accept the inconveniences of old age."

SHIP HIM TO CANADA OR ENGLAND !

He is "elderly" himself but be sure to remember his health
insurance is different from yours as Congress has their own high-
end coverage! He will never have to learn to accept
"inconveniences"!!!

AND THE WINNER IS VERY INTERESTING!

The percentage of each past president's cabinet who had worked in
the private business sector prior to their appointment to the
cabinet. You know what the private business sector is... a real
life business, not a government job. Here are the percentages.

T. Roosevelt........ 38%

Taft.....................40%

Wilson .................52%

Harding..................49%

Coolidge.............. 48%

Hoover.................. 42%

F. Roosevelt......... 50%

Truman..................50%

Eisenhower............ 57%

Kenn edy.............. 30%

John son.................47%

Nixon.................... 53%

Ford..................... 42%

Carter.................. 32%

Reagan....................56%

GH Bush................. 51%

Clinton ................. 39%

GW Bush................ 55%

And the winner of the Chicken Dinner is:

Obama................ 8% !!!

SURPRISED?

Yep! That's right! Only Eight Percent!!! - the least by far of
the last 19 presidents!! And these people are trying to tell our
big corporations how to run their business? They know what's
best for GM...Chrysler... Wall Street... and you and me?

How can the president of a major nation and society...the one
with the most successful economic system in world history...
stand and talk about business when he's never worked for one?
Or about jobs when he has never really had one??! And neither
have 92% of his senior staff and closest advisers! They've spent
most of their time in academia, government and/or non-profit
jobs....or as "community organizers" when they should have been
in an employment line.

Just in case you have not seen these interesting statistics:

May want to pass this on, we will NEVER see it in the
main street media, I gar-0n-tee!!!

The Stimulus Worked - Will it Matter in November?

It has become empirically clear that the Stimulus Plan worked. However, we were in such a deep hole 18 months ago that things still look bleak after a great deal of progress digging out. Can the Democrats communicate this effectively? Will our famously fickle electorate listen, or do they simply want to register dissatisfaction with the status quo? We will see in less than two months.

A few friendly reminders:

We were losing 750,000+ jobs per month when Obama took the oath of office. Under Obama's leadership, we have grown private sector jobs for the past eight months, uninterrupted.

The economy was dropping over 6% per annum in January, 2009. Thanks to our Democratic monopoly on power, growth returned and improved it's rate of growth over 10 points in 2009. Growth continues in 2010, though it has slowed as the GOP has successfully fought Democratic remedies to our myriad economic maladies.

The budget deficit peaked in FY2009 under the Bush Administration's last budget ($1.3T) and Obama's supplemental ($400B) and will decrease in FY2010, the Obama Administration's first fiscal year. The deficit is projected by OMB to markedly decline in 2011 and 2012, to less than half of the deficit inherited from George W Bush.

Hopefully, word will get around and voters will make thoughtful and informed decisions on November 2nd.
