As we approach the Inauguration, I do want to pause a moment to celebrate the truly historic nature of his election and of course enjoy the pride of a group that has finally had its race issues addressed.
That group of course, is the vast majority of Americans for whom race has never been an issue and who have (for once and all?) demonstrated that they would support any candidate regardless. Yea us!
However, my little self, I do not support the man or the hoopla, because I think he is a recalcitrant liberal who is going to wreck this country. Fierce opposition, rather than placation is the highest form of respect.
Such an historic event will mean a lot to those in the A-A community and their pride is showing. However, after the glow is gone, I wish for them an honest appraisal of their unconditional support of the Democratic party. Conservatism/Capitalism remains the best and fairest system for economic growth and freedom.

The argument just goes on and on, Liberals see it one way, Conservatives see the other. Obama is keeping the Secretary of Defense, A Republican Secretary of Transportation, and yet He is "going to wreck this country".

Capitalism is the fairest system, as long as EVERYONE gets fair treatment in loans, housing, education, and opportunties. Which of course you described as the vast majority of Americans. Then why Selma, then why Birmingham????

It is not Bush's, Clinton's or the "O" economy. It is ours and the less the government interferes in it the better. They cannot make it better, period.
Trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see.
The "O" addresses entitlements, not on the backs of the 5% (again), I will change my tune.
Lastly, toxic mortgages, the basis of our current crisis, is the baby of the Democratic party.
Management of the war, changing to Bush II, is due to the "O" coming to grips with reality of the situation, not some compromise.

Those were a long time ago and this country (read: the group identified in my post) has done an awful lot. Civil rights, diversity, etc.
Most children of the current era do not see race, they just have friends.
This is not pie in the sky that there is no bigotry, just that it is no longer accepted.

Laissez faire economic policy has fallen far short of the Keynesian model. It is the government's responsibility to craft the system to foster objectives such as a large, educated middle class. Laissez faire ultimately leads to a tiny wealthy class, a small middle and a huge underclass. See: Latin America.

I really never want to hear anything about the race card again in this country. When 95%+ of the black community vote for the big O that tells me that race only goes one way. Reason I can assure you that 95%+ of the white community did not vote for McCain. End of discussion on race forever in this country.
I have one more comment regarding the Laissez Faire philosophy that the some folks keep touting. Much like their dear leader, GWB, they are to stubborn to learn the important lessons of our time. The hands off, laissez faire approach is what got us into this mess. As Buffet points out, capitalism requires rigorous regulation lest the scoundrels pollute the system.
Larry Kudlow thinks tax cuts are the answer! Good gawd, what else? Economists from the right and left are in agreement that SPENDING is what is needed right now. Tax cuts on the high end or rebates will merely be saved, which provides precious little economic activity.
The wise man does not contort his views to neatly fit into his tired, old model once it has been exposed as folly. He learns from the experience and alters his views accordingly.
