Atheists and Christmas

Do Atheists give presents to their children on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

I know that Muslims do not and Jews do not.

If Atheists do give presents out isn't this being ultra hypocritical given the fact that the holiday is honoring the birth of Jesus Christ?

Not really - Christmas has become a secular holiday as well as a Christian one. Besides - the Christians ripped off the traditional Winter Solstice holiday.

Answer: Christmas Eve, Christmas morning or any other time they please.

Really, sounds like a way to justify a holiday to us and tell your kids something else.

Name the nearest Atheist or Muslim Hospital.

List all the great things atheists have given back to mankind.

Do Atheists donate to charities? Highly doubtful - liberals are the worst when it comes to donations or volunteer work. However Christians and Jews are the first ones on the ground when needed. Liberals are best at donating the producers $$$ and not their own. Take a look at those huge donations from Kerry, Obama and Biden on their tax returns! The state of North Dakota donates more than all of San Francisco (Source - Who Really Gives). When it comes to backing up the words with $$$$$, liberals are inept unless it's someone else's bucks. Once again - The thought eclipses the result in liberal minds.

What do they really give back to society except complaining and raining on everyone else's parade.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even to the ACLU!

Mark -

Don't be so hard on Jimmy! It is the holidays, after all...

Muslims make up 1% of our population. If you go to Saudi Arabia, I am sure you will find many an Islamic hospital.

Most of our hospitals are secular, many of which are for profit - a model I admire.

Your donation paragraph wasn't very well thought out. I am a "card carrying member" of the ACLU and I give more to charity than most people I know. Jews are extremely philanthropic and they are Democrats by a 2/1 margin.

Your oft-repeated "thought eclipses the result" can't be your best work, Mark. You can do better!

I am now going to go sit by our Holiday Tree, drink coffee and read the morning newspaper.

I think it's great that you contribute to charities, however my comment was not based on you (there are always exceptions). Liberals in the US and Europe on the whole have a very poor record for giving time or money to those less fortunate. Most think that - once again the government should be in charge.

Oh I forgot!

Merry Christmas!

Mark - we actually agree a little on your last point. I think government should play a role that will obviate the need of many existing charities. I think it is Dickensian to necessarily rely upon charities to serve the needs of our less fortunate citizens.
