Merry Christmas Ben Nelson

So Ben Nelson has been rewarded justly for voting against the overwhelming wishes of the constituency he was elected to represent with the results of the latest Rasmussen poll.

It may not be unprecedented for an incumbent Senator to trail by 30 points in a hypothetical matchup, but it is certainly extraordinary.

Just 17% of Nebraska voters approve of the deal their senator made on Medicaid in exchange for his vote in support of the plan. Overall, 64% oppose the health care legislation, including 53% who are Strongly Opposed.

C'mon Ben do your constitutional duty and represent the State of Nebraska's wishes instead of thinking like the rest of the liberals who fancy themselves better and smarter than all non liberals.

2010 is shaping up to be a great election year for Conservatives.

We will probably be treated with the wonderful event of Harry Reid leaving the Senate. Oh what a glorious day that will be!

There is still a Santa Claus!

Wishing everyone, including Rich and Terry, a healthy and happy 2010!

Fortunately for Ben, he doesn't face re-election until 2012. If he loses, it would not be the end of the world for the Dems. Because of his constituency, he has not been a reliable member of the caucus.

The over/under for 2010 is a GOP pick-up of 26 in the House and 5 in the Senate - so says Charlie Cook. I guess both numbers are in line with historical norms as well as Reagan's first mid-term in 1982.

I like Reid's chances. Rarely do voters vote out such a powerful member of their Congressional delegation. That said, it happened to the last top Senate Democrat, Tom Daschle, in 2004 when he was minority leader.

As Jimmy will remind you - ten months is an eternity in politics. It is one time that the Good Doc is absolutely right.

Mark - you have a Happy New Year too. I look forward to reading your posts in 2010!
