Cheney nails it again

As I've watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won't be at war. He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won't be at war. He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of 9/11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won't be at war.

He seems to think if he closes Guantanamo and releases the hard-core al Qaeda trained terrorists still there, we won't be at war. He seems to think if he gets rid of the words, "war on terror," we won't be at war. But we are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren't, it makes us less safe. Why doesn't he want to admit we're at war? It doesn't fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn't fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency - social transformation--the restructuring of American society. President Obama's first object and his highest responsibility must be to defend us against an enemy that knows we are at war.

Just knowing that he appointed the Kerryesque Janet Napolitano to head Homeland Security after her "The system worked" "The system failed" flip flop makes me feel so much safer.

Lets return 90 Gitmo prisoners back to that new hot bed of Al Queda terrorists, Yemen, so that Barry can try to keep his campaign promise. Who craes if they will be some of the next leaders of Al Queda plotting more attacks against the US.

After Fort Hood and Flight 253 it is really obvious that Islamic terrorists appreciate Barry's new and improved tone of reasoning with people who want to destroy our way of life.

If the Republicans try to make this a partisan issue, it will backfire. The cynicism will be too much for all but the fringe to take.

This whole Nigerian/Northwest Air thing is an abysmal failure - it is shocking that such a thing can happen eight years after 9-11. Naturally, the administration is responding. Any criticism directed at Obama begs the question, just what did the Bush Administration hand over? It's not like the failure is a consequence of changes made by Obama. It is the all-to-slow bureaucratic status quo. If we don't shake things up, much suffering will follow.

Richard Reid, the Shoe Bomber, was arrested, Mirandized and prosecuted in Federal Court while Tom Ridge was the head of HSD. To hear him criticize the handling of the Nigerian is a joke. I think he is trying to make a mends with the right wing after dropping a dime on the political nature of the terror alerts.

"The system worked" what a dumbass. Thank god she's left AZ. She is in way over her head. We almost had a "man made disaster”. The default mechanism kicked in right away – blame Bush. And then a complaint about bureaucrats – you ain’t seen nothing yet, wait till the new Health-Care system kicks in, along with your much anticipated Carbon Tax and VAT. We will be swimming in bureaucrats. Obama is just proving to be the weak-suck we have always knew he was. Russia, China, Iran and Cuba must be shaking in their boots, they’re laughing at him. No backbone, zip nada! Also in way over his head.

Thank you, Professor Chaney, for your thoughtful contribution. One knows they are in the presence of giants when reading "dumbass" and "weak-suck" in the same post.

I didn't blame Bush in my post. I am just simply suggesting that a BBV has no room to talk - which, of course, is true.

Russia and Iran would be very unhappy with a US carbon tax, wouldn't they?

I think the Iranian regime is shaking in their boots right about now - thanks in part to the renewed US moral authority under President Obama. The streets of Teheran are full of protestors and the "free world" is working more cohesively today than they have in eight years.

Baxter, you are on Crack, you are also fuzzy with the truth.

Any criticism directed at Obama begs the question, just what did the Bush Administration hand over? But you didn't blame Bush?

He handed over, the TSA, Homeland Security, the Patriot Act.

You mean the terror alerts which were NEVER CHANGED as a result of a discussion of the possible political use of them?

The left clearly wants to deny we are at war and make this a domestic law issue. They do this to hide their dovish nature. They are idiots.

Hey Jimmy ~

You are a BBV too. It gives you little room to talk - ever - unless you are in a confessional booth.

What is "the left wants to deny we are in a war" bit, anyway? I know they are repeating it often on Fox, but it makes no sense. Isn't Obama tripling the number of troops in Afghanistan, the "front line in the war on terror"? Haven't the number of drone attacks on terrorist targets more than doubled since Bam took the oath of office?

Is there any basis for your parroted attack, or is it just that and no more?

You are welcome Spell Checker in Chief., I know I enjoy colloquialisms too. I believe someone made a comment – “What shameful sacks of sh**”, would that put them in the presence of giants too? I know that statement is different – go ahead and give me the excuse, I’m waiting. Sometimes simple statements just fit, she is a dumbass and he is a weak-suck. His balls rattle like bee bees in box car. Cheney and Mark are right on!

I too hope the Iranian regime goes down hard, it is a terrible theocracy. They may be shaking in their boots over the uprising, but Obama has done nothing to give the protesters any kind of backing. He has sat quietly on the sidelines so as not to upset the current regime, except yesterday when he pivoted off his update on the terrorist attempt on Christmas. It has not been a “Tear Down This Wall” moment, get serious. Why, yes the support has been huge overwhelming! Let’s get the UN involved also, they’ll solve it. More sanctions, that will scare them.

Obama did increase the troops in Afghanistan. He took the minimum acceptable political number of troops and his speech to the cadets had them nodding off. What a guy to rally behind. The war on terror is different from the wars we are fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. The administration has come up with “man made disasters”, right! The way they handled the latest terror situation and Ft Hood are indicative of how serious they really are. They ask us not to jump to conclusions, only in the case of a Harvard professor is that allowable. Way to PC for me. The only way is profiling.
