I remember when Governor Gray Davis of California (later deposed and replaced by Arnold) had to block an initiative by the Democrat controlled Legislature in California in which they were going to raise taxes on the rich to even higher levels. Even Gray knew it would kill the Golden Goose. Apparently Gov. Patterson is blind to that fact (pun intended!).
Here is a tip to all American Socialists: RICH PEOPLE ARE MOBILE, and, THEY ARE SMARTER THAN YOU ARE! Don't kill the Golden Geese!!!
Jimmy - Have you ever been to NYC? Your stat speaks to the tremendous disparity of wealth in our great American city.
That said, I am on record as saying that the rust belt states need to be cutting taxes, not raising them. They also need to expand the base and rely on income taxes less. People can vote with their feet - a fact that does not translate on the national level.
