WHILE WE ARE SPENDING

In the Republican world of where up is down and down is really up. We have Sen. John Kyl who requested 118 million dollars for earmarks in the budget, then railed against the Democrats for having no spending restraints and earmarks. Now Kyle says his earmark criticism is "symbolic" and that he is now talking "wasteful Washington spending."

You know ol' sara had jon kyl's first fund raiser (as a congressman) in my home the early '80's. is ol' sara a big fan of him & his spending? NOT!! If terry &/or is a big fan of the current spending...shame on them! This is NOT a time to be 'dumbing down'. let's get off the old political jibe train & get thinking. Thinking-not rhetoric!
cheers, sara p.

Spending is a problem - so are revenues. You can cut discretionary spending (as Obama will propose) and you still don't make much of a dent. Unless you want to cancel Social Security and Medicare, there is no way to avert significant tax increases. I think Bruce Bartlett is right - we need a VAT - lets get it started once we are unequivocally out of recession.

We can achieve material savings by raising the age on SS & Medicare, but that only buys time, It does not stop the bleeding.

You need to read the papers, my man.

She is the 60-year-old wife of the former First Minister in Northern Ireland and former MP in her own right. It was just revealed she had an affair with a 19-year-old man. Her cuckolded husband apparently was seeking favors for the fellow in the restaurant business, unaware that he was already receiving plenty of attention.
