Why are all the Secessionists Right Wingers?

We all know that Todd Palin, husband of the Republican 2008 VP candidate, was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party. He changed his registration in 2002 when it became politically inconvenient.

Now we have the sitting Republiucan governor of Texas suggesting secession as well. Tom DeLay and Sean Hannity have both supported Perry's rhetoric.

I am a proud American, very patriotic, and I take great offense to such crazy talk. Why does it always come from the right? Are you more concerned about low tax rates than your country? When you lose at the polls, big time, is it time to walk away from your nation?

God Bless America!!!

Why was Todd Palin a member of a secessionist party? Why would we consider his wife for anything if she is married to a one time separatist? Randy Weaver's new wife not available?

Follow the constitution? I agree. Where is the constitution not being followed (besides warrantless wiretapping and torture in the recent past)? If the constitution isn't being followed, sue. The Roberts Court is as sympathetic a body as you will find to right wing rants.

Threatening secession is despicable and should not be tolerated within the mainstream.

So using your logic Rich, that means our current President has been an America hater for most of his life like his wife.

Another misstatment by you is that secessionist talk always comes from the right. You are aware of Louis Farrakhan aren't you. He is definitely a left wing extremist who has been calling for blacks to secede from the rest of the United States for a long time. I am sure that there are many more examples of left wingers wanting to secede. If I had the time to research it I am highly confident that the list would be long.

Rich, you again try to make things up in your original post. I watched Hannity last night. He did not support the remarks about thinking about secesion if the government continues to not follow the constitution. Hannity did agree with a lot of the other rhetoric about out of control spending. It is not about the taxes so you need to get a different line. It is about the out of control spending and bail outs. What they are doing now is clearly unconstitutional if you read what James Madison and Thomas Jefferson have written during the time when the constitution became the law of the land. It is also clear by their writings that if a State believes that the Federal Government is acting outside the constitutional framework than they can secede. It is the language that the Southern States relied on leading up to the Civil War. What the South did is clearly constitutional when you go back and read the words of the founders.

If as you say you are so patriotic and love your country so much than why aren't you out there complaining about the run away spending. Please don't go and rely on your normal "well Bush spent a lot of money too" garbage. The spending under the Bush administration is paltry next to what is happening now. I have seen estimates that a 20 year old starting to work today will have to pay $144,000 in taxes just to pay the interest on the spending since Obama became President.

Also I recall all of those left wing celebrtities who said that they would leave the US if Bush won. A bunch of lying hypocrites.

You need to focus on the real issues at play here. It is not just about taxes. It is about taxing us and using the money in unconstitutional ways. I am confident that there would be no tea parties if we increased taxes to fight a war. So please take a deep breath and focus on what is actually being said.

Lastly, what does it mean when an atheist says God Bless America?

Well, at least one of us will stand up for America and unambiguously oppose secession. I do not support carving our country period. Not to retain slaves nor to further petty and unpopular political notions.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
