The Republicans and Terri Schiavo

The Republican party's opposition to the Obama health care has a unique twist, they decry "death squads" from the Government who will decide to" pull the plug on grandma".
Yet when Terri Schiavo's family decided to pull the plug on her, it was okay for Bush and his cohorts to " get involved" and try to over rule the family.
I guess it's okay for the government to decide the cost and value of one's life.
It seems to me that the Republican party is against things when it suits them, where is the moral compass?
The conservative figures taking potshots at Democrats for wanting to fund voluntary discussions about end of life decisions didn't feel that wayback then, what has changed?

Good point Terry, see that was not hard...admitting when one's side is wrong.

Having said that, you Socialists cannot seem to grasp the difference between end of life counseling and end of life counseling required by the government.

Here is an idea. The next time you wish to opine, ask yourself...is it the governments business?

And if the answer is, yes because they are paying for it (ala Rich) then ask...should they?

Freedom is not a easy concept or commodity. Hold it closely.

Hold on here. Terry's statement is a complete misrepresentation of the facts of the Terri Schiavo situation. Her husband wanted to pull the plug and her parents were fighting it. Not "her family" decided to pull the plug. Another example of liberal telling just a little bit of the story and then twisting it into an attack story based on falsehoods.

I keep asking you not to post until you have researched what you are about to say. It appears to me that you continually pick these tidbits off of liberal websites and then use them without looking to see whether they are accurate or not.

You entire post is not worth the time it took you to type it. You just don't seem to want to take the time out to think about what Jim tells you.

Mark the point is, The Republicans have constantly used the arguement that we do not want the government between you and your Doctor, there fore do not vote for the health care bill; well if that is true, the Republicans did not practice what they preached in the Schiavo case. By the way Schiavo's family is her husband. As for listening to Dr. Jim who keeps harping about Socialism, I have said let's see the Republican's step up and introduce legislation to repeal social security, or medicare, clearly two socialist programs. Got the guts or are you just being the party against everything but offering NO SOLUTIONS

Terry I am assuming that you are married and that you have living parents and possibly siblings. So you are telling me that your wife is your family and your parents and siblings are not?

The second part of your response is not even worth discussing since these programs are now sacred cows in the publics mind. Just look at the firestorm that President Clinton went through from the liberal media and left wing organizations when he presided over the changing of the welfare system. By the way which party were all of the opponents of welfare reform from even though everyone knew how much fraud and wasted spending was going on?
