No I do not think he is the devil. I do think he is mostly an empty slate, as Hags has previously noted. The only way to define him is by his associations and actions. What we know is that he has not run anything, he associates with a terrorist (and no, that is not a proper association for any mainstream candidate starting his career), he did not wear a flag on his lapel. He did attend a Muslim school, he attended a anti-American church. He has a very liberal voting record, he is proposing a new welfare. He wants to pull out of Iraq in defeat on the verge of victory. And he has no legislative record! I find it LOL amazing that Rich thinks his involvement in the Harvard Law Review makes for presidential timer. What he seems to be good at, is wrapping a liberal agenda in a palatable cover and I rue that McCain is such a poor candidate that he cannot expose him and his clearly socialist policies.
I remain amazed that Ms. Palin, 3 years younger than the "O", is assailed as unqualified because, I guess, she did not write a book. She has managed, governed, and walked the walk.
I swear if I hear one more "he is so smart, he will save us" I may bust an aneurysm and no Rich, that would not be good, you would have to talk to your MIL at Christmas.

did you say he did not wear a flag pin? heavy
Why yes Charlotte, I did.
This question has been asked and answered - a lot! You want to define the front runner, have at it. Your continuing respect for Palin says a great deal about your judgment. So long as the candidate is a Republican, you have no problem putting lipstick on the proverbial pig.
Walk what walk. Try answering questions about troopergate, nothing to hide answer questions about Husband's stance and participation in Alaska succeeding from Union, or just explain the witchcraft blessing or whatever on you tube. Thats what I call walking the walk. Witchcraft not all that common in most church's I know of.
When I judge qualifications for the office of the president, I think that resumes are not of much use. If it were a resume contest you would look for experience and results. Senators and Congressmen don't own many results. It takes 50+ Senators and 233+ Congressmen to get anything done, so owning results is just talk for them. And, OBTW, talk is what they do. Nothing more. The Executive Branch decides, and that is why we generally elect former governors. They actually have a record.
So, how to decide. I try to understand the candidates' value systems and decision making processes as evidenced by what they have done.
McCain has demonstrated that he is patriotic above all else. He will abandon his party if he thinks the party is on the wrong side of an issue (examples: (1) Reagan sending troops to Lebanon and (2) campaign finance reform. McCain, at times, will do what he thinks is right, almost to the exclusion of politics. I'm not saying that is necessarily great, but that is what he has demonstrated to me.
Obama has demonstrated through his associations, that he is comfortable with allies who believe that The System is deeply flawed. I don't know if you have watched the entire "God Damn America" speech by the Rev. Wright, but I have. The Rev did not offer a few sensational comments. Nope, the entire sermon was a condemnation of what our country is and how it works.
I don't know if you have read about the associations between Obama and William Ayers but I have. Ayers was able to get grant money for "improving" schools, but his clearly avowed purpose was to engage children in projects and studies that were meant to further his vision of radical change. Obama did not have passing associations with Ayers and his organization. He was on the Board and active in working with Ayers and others. Obama clearly was comfortable with the association until it no longer served his purpose.
Obama, a smart guy by anyone's assessment, was happy to enter into a real estate deal with Mr. Rezko so that Obama could have a better house and property than he could afford. When he was exposed, he said he did a boneheaded thing. A smart guy knows when he is dealing with a crook, and Obama was comfortable with it until he was exposed.
Obama is not just another Chicago style pol. He is a very smart Chicago style pol. And he has demonstrated that his world view and his value system are not worthy of the presidency.
Off to Napa. See you next week!!
