Bears repeating

yes I do. The Democratic ticket is talking complete socialism. Windfall profit taxes, welfare. Rich, let's look at Websters (1) A theory or system of social organization in which the means of production and distribution of goods are owned and contolled collectively or by the government. (2) (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism. That is what Joe was talking about last evening. The only Republicans Presidential candidates who have lost during my lifetime have been moderates. The party again and again needs to listen to the electorate not the chatting class.

You need to read those definitions. You are reaching. No one is suggesting that government own the means of production.

You ought to visit France. Not bad.

Rich if you really want to live in France I am sure that a bunch of us would go in together and buy you a one way ticket. Wink wink

I think Jim makes a point you should consider. Obama repeatedly stresses the need for fundamental change. What do you suppose fundamental means? He is not just talking about increasing taxes on those nasty, job-creating rich people. Nope, he has consistently stressed that the system is unfair. My interpretation of his message is that he favors a distinct move in the direction of socialism.

Go back and listen to his clips and see what you think. And I say go back because the rest of the way he is going to soften his rhetoric and run out the clock. The only two ways he loses now is (1) he channels Gary Hart, or (2) the US experiences another bin Laden episode.

Regarding the French: great bread, great cheese, very good wine, mediocre films. Not good at pies, particularly when it comes to growing economic pies. A country that has an economic plan based on slicing the same pie ever thinner so enough people can have some is not going to enjoy what the future holds in terms of international competition. In other words (why do I say things like this?), they suck.

I think I'll go have a nice California red.

How can you possibly listen to "O" and Joe debate and not conclude that they want to move our country to a socialist state?

You consistently deny the truth of your principles.
