What is Bush's greatest achievement?

Terry, if we could have a moment of serious discussion.

Presidents are judged by big things, and big things need to happen for them to be judged.

Past Presidents and their achievements.

Nixon, China
Ford, none
Carter, none
Reagan, he gets two, free markets and the restoration of the American spirit and the breakup of communism with the accompanying peace dividend
Bush I the first Iraq war
Clinton, balancing the budget, but to be honest, that is not much, and I do not mean that insulting, it is just not an defining historic event. He did not have a defining moment occur during his Presidency.
Bush II, 9/11 and the war on terror. Say what you want and there were mistakes but he reshaped and reordered the government. and before you start trying to argue about errors in execution, that is not what history remembers. This will be his biggest achievement. You asked.

Of all the recent Presidents, Bush II faced the biggest challenge and as I have previously stated, his firmness in the face of opposition will be judged well by history. Also, the economy and the deficit will be left and accredited to the next President, and if it rights it self, the current issues will not matter, if it does not, then the next President will receive the blame.

No one would remember Lincoln's name if he did not serve during the Civil War.

Nixon : crook watergate
Ford : pardoned a crook
Carter: human rights
Reagan: selling arms.
Bush : I like the guy
read my lips
Clinton: Republicans tried to
overturn an election,
by asking a married
man under oath if he
cheated on his wife.

Bush 2 : No redeeming qualities.

This is free association not much thinking allowed.
Nixon: China, Getting us off of Gold Standard, Watergate
Ford: Pardoned Nixon
Carter: Worst President possibly in history, Boycotted Olympics, Islamic Terrorism started with the hostage taking, Misery Index.
Reagan: Thank God! Greatest President in 20th century. Ended Cold War, Spark of greatest and longest streak of economic prosperity, Brought back pride in being an American. Pulled the Marines out of Lebanon probably biggest mistake.
Bush I: First Gulf War, Read my lips.
Clinton: Luckiest President, Lied under oath same crime as Scooter Libby, Signed welfare reform, Fiddled while Islamic terrorism got stronger and more radical.
Bush II: Unluckiest President, War on terror, Killed plenty of Al Queda leaders which has made the US safer, Liberated Iraq, Victim of most biased press in history.

I have always found the smartest, hardest working people to be the most lucky. Of course, the dimwits seem to have terrible luck...
