Meet the Press

Like many a political junkie, I have enjoyed Meet the Press for many years. The show is now officially dead. No longer is it a discussion of politics, it has now become an "O" coronation vehicle. This Sunday for example, they spoke how "O" should arrange an economic cabinet prior to the election. Peggy Noonan, of all people (Former Reagan, Bush speech writer), described how our nation is in trouble and the candidates should put country first without mentioning that is exactly what McCain has done now and through out his career. RIP.

And just when it looks like things can't get worse, a filibuster proof senate.

Dems could hit 60 Senate seats - Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen - Politico.com

Peggy Noonan is one of many serious Republicans that is very unhappy with the Palin selection. Was such a cynical move putting his country first? Hardly. His grandstanding during the bailout negotiations further discredits the notion of McCain the Statesman.

I hope MTP returns to a panel asking questions rather than a single moderator. NBC has a deep bench of prospective questioners. David Gregory would be a good pick as the anchor.

"Filibuster Proof Senate" - I hope we get our 60 and take the opportunity to ditch such an undemocratic rule. The filibuster effectively lets the minority govern. Passing both houses and getting presidential ink is tough enough. The filibuster rule needs to go the way of supply side economic policies.

I agree. Tom Brokaw does a nice job reading the news but he's no Tim Russert.

I don't like the panel idea simply because it becomes partisan. It needs one moderator, maybe a print journalist who can ask the questions both parties want the answers to. Or how about Ted Koppel?
